Perhaps one of the most imaged galaxies in the sky, M 51 never fails to impress.  While there is the classic spiral, there is another galaxy as well and they are thought to be interacting.  It is thought that some billions of years ago, they did interact with the smaller coming out the loser in the deal.  Shot with a 14″ telescope.
